Blog: Flavors of Edgewater

Posted 04.06.2020

Away from the many showy and sceney venues of South Beach—and near the new Biscayne Bay waterfront condos at Missoni Baia—several culinary innovations and fusion restaurants are causing a stir among locals and tourists alike. The following sites are all just a short drive or Uber ride away from these luxury East Edgewater condos, and they’re where you’ll want to be this summer.

MC Kitchen – 4141 NE 2nd Avenue

Aspen-born chef Dena Marino made a name for herself in Colorado, but in Miami’s Design District, she is making it household. Utilizing her Nonna’s authentic recipes and techniques, she has infused rustic Italian cuisine with a contemporary emphasis on farm-to-table ingredients, and the results must simply be tasted to be believed. Simple, flawlessly executed recipes bring the richness of the Italian flavor palette to life, but with a uniquely American sensibility – take, for example, the Tennessee Honey Glazed Eden Farm Pork Chop, accompanied by a ceci puree, and a mind-blowing hash composed of brussels sprouts, bacon, and apple. The Capellini con Bottarga is not to be missed, either, tossed in a unique sauce featuring oven-dried tomatoes, chilis, and orange zest.

Mandolin – 4312 NE 2nd Avenue

Aegean cuisine thrives on simplicity, and in this sense, fans of Missoni Baia’s clean and crisp architecture will find spiritual harmony in their experience at husband-and-wife team Ahmet Erkaya and Anastasia Koutsioukis’s Mandolin Aegean Bistro. Set in a restored 1930’s-era home, this restaurant offers a dining experience that transports you to another time and continent, both through its atmosphere and its menu. Try the manti dumplings, featuring minced lamb, garlic yogurt, Aleppo pepper (not too spicy, we promise!) and burnt butter, and make sure to pinch yourself – yes, you’re still in Miami!

Sugarcane – 3252 NE 1st Avenue

With its sister location being named one of Las Vegas’s best new restaurants in 2016, Sugarcane is known for its outstanding food selection and beautiful presentation. The dishes are served tapa-style, allowing patrons to try a selection of menu options. Guests are awed by the fun, festive, inviting entrance and surrounding atmosphere that includes both indoor and outdoor seating. With the add-on of spotless service throughout the dining experience, Sugarcane is certainly an easy spot to spend hours, sipping cocktails and people watching. When you stop in, do yourself a favor and try the Foie Gras and Duck Fried Rice!

NOA Café – 2711 NE 2nd  Avenue

This little gem of a restaurant is tucked away and can be easy to miss if it’s not on your radar. However, once you’re in the know, you’ll be glad NOA Café is just a short drive from Missoni Baia, with convenient street-side parking available right around the corner. A great find for healthy food that won’t leave you feeling overstuffed, the menu features an array of homemade Israeli dishes. With happy hour deals, outdoor seating, and the option to bring your dog along for the fun, it’s easy to understand how NOA has become a locals’ favorite. When you make the trek, say yes to indulgence and go for the flourless chocolate cake.

Mignonette Miami – 210 NE 18th  Street

Nestled on a corner in Downtown Miami, Mignonette is known for real food and real service. Offering fresh, carefully prepared dishes that are filled with flavor, Mignonette is where you go to splurge on some of the tastiest seafood in town. The expansive wine list includes a lot of lighter, lesser-known whites that are great to pair with the dishes, especially the seafood tower or clams casino. And there is ample parking if you choose to take a drive from the luxury residences at Missoni Baia.

Lagniappe – 3425 NE 2nd Avenue

Lagniappe is a fantastic little wine bar, filled with an eclectic array of sofas, tables, and chairs. As you enter, you’ll immediately see the stage where live musical acts jam out throughout the evening. Pick your own meat and cheese plate, order a bottle of your favorite vino, and enjoy the gorgeous patio that is illuminated with twinkling lights and decorated by lush vines. The attentive service, reasonable prices, and dog-friendly, relaxed atmosphere make this a fun spot to spend an evening with friends.

The Real Deal is reporting that OKO Group and other South Florida developers are utilizing modern technology to stay connected with prospective homebuyers in this uncertain time. With social distancing and travel restrictions settling in, the sales team at Missoni Baia has set up a fully virtual tour of the sales gallery and amenities and placed a lot of resources online, creating a safe way for clients to explore these forthcoming Edgewater condos. Missoni Baia’s foundation was completed earlier this year, and the tower has already begun ascending to its eventual 57-story height.

Trust Your Gut When it Comes to Real Estate, Says Property Developer and Chairman of Aman Resorts

Posted 03.26.2020

The age of amenities is upon us, and no one is better positioned to make the most of this moment in luxury real estate than Aman and OKO Group CEO Vladislav Doronin. “Luxury for me is excellent service,” Doronin told Mansion Global last week. “When everything runs smoothly, and I don’t need to be personally involved in the process.” This service philosophy undergirds everything that Doronin does, including working with Italian fashion house Missoni to build their first collection of branded residences; dubbed “Missoni Baia,” these Edgewater bayfront condos will combine luxury condo living with the resort experience, thanks to a suite of amenities that includes multiple pools, an elevated tennis court, and one of the city’s largest private spas.

Luxury means paying attention to the finest details of your personal style; from the furnishings you select for your home to your favorite timepiece. Piaget offers nearly 150 years of watchmaking expertise, pioneering and engineering ever-slimmer, increasingly functional, and heartier designs that continue to make waves — even in our modern digital world. Piaget was the company that introduced the first perpetual calendar with a dual time zone. They also brought us a watch with the slimmest tourbillon movement in the world, the Caliber 600P, whose analog function rivals the sleekness of a smart watch in a piece that conveys heirloom elegance. Ranked as one of the top four watch manufacturers, and consistently recognized by the prestigious Fondation du Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, Piaget watches stand out as “the” luxury watch brand by which all others are measured.

With artistry and forward design at every turn in Missoni Baia’s architecture, it’s only natural that you’ll demand the same in your personal choice of accessories and fashions. Hublot offers a luxury line that brings this concept to the watchmaking world with unique innovations and a focus on excellence. One such advancement is what the company calls “magic gold,” which is a ceramic and gold alloy that makes their gold watches incredibly durable and virtually scratchproof. Another is the development of the Unico movement: It is based on a bi-directional automatic winding system that rewinds in a remarkably short time and provides an almost unbelievable 70 hours of timekeeping when fully wound. Just as you’ll never mistake any other building in Miami for Missoni Baia, you’ll never mistake a Hublot for another brand, which makes each of their watches — quite literally — worth more than its weight in gold.

We all love the forward fashions of Prada, so why not take it to the next level and dress our homes in it, as well? The Miami store brings a new perspective to the brand’s retail concept, encapsulating the domestic space with houseware creations by notable Brazilian designers, such as Joaquim Tenreiro, Jorge Zalszupin, Sergio Rodrigues, and others. The midcentury modernism infused with European and Latin American stylings accentuate the materials at play, while maintaining contemporary lines. The result is simple luxury, but also exceptionally warm pieces that make a house a home through the use of both indigenous materials and a bit of folk craft. Relaxed but modern in their aesthetic, delicate in form but sturdy in function, they are, in Prada’s words, “composed of contrasts and contradictions, finding harmony in the unconventional.” Or, put another way, they are the very essence of Prada — and quite possibly the perfect accents to complete your space at Missoni Baia.

For those who love classic design but wear it with a nod toward the decadent, Celine’s recent reinvention of their fashion line may be just for you. When Hedi Slimane took the reins in 2018 as artistic, creative, and image director, he imprinted his personal signature style on the brand, remaking it to be “driven by youth culture, indie rock, and sulking adolescence.” While that may bring to mind visions of ripped denim and worn leather, this change in style has also been made with a more mature refinement in mind. The timelessness of Celine’s fabrics and lines is still there, but the cuts of the pieces veer toward more modern trends, and, ultimately, a smarter, more cultivated version of a younger you. They’ve also extended the brand to men’s fashion, couture, and fragrances, making the new Celine a destination for everyone. For an effortless look that matches your luxury lifestyle, the boutique at Celine has what you need.

Miami is full of chic boutiques, but nowhere is the selection better than the neighborhood surrounding the midtown Miami condos at Missoni Baia. Prominent luxury designers like Prada and Piaget bring fine fashion and furnishings to your doorstep and cater to the lifestyle you’ve become accustomed to. Make the most of what life at Missoni Baia has to offer — take a day and explore the offerings in these fine stores, and find the perfect outfit, accessories, and decor for you and your home.

Designer Fashion Brands Are Moving into Real Estate

Since Art Basel opened its Miami-based fair in 2002, art and design have become as central to life in this South Florida city as sunny days and breezy nights. It’s no surprise, then, that OKO Group and Missoni Baia decided to combine the Miami lifestyle with the Italian fashion house’s signature aesthetic to create Missoni Baia, a 57-story collection of minimalist luxury condos and resort-caliber amenities on the shores of Biscayne Bay. These Edgewater, Miami, condos are centered around private balconies that are perfect for the indoor/outdoor lifestyle, while the public and amenities spaces feature familiar stripes of color and items from the Missoni Home Collection that make residents feel like they are stepping into the pages of a glossy fashion magazine every time they walk through their building.

Lots of Luxury Homes, But Few Affordable Ones

Vladislav Doronin is betting big on Miami. The CEO and Chairman of OKO Group has three Miami-area projects currently underway, including Missoni Baia, the first branded residence from the Italian design house as well as the first of OKO’s projects slated for completion. This collection of Edgewater condos is being designed by Asymptote Architecture, with interiors by Paris Forino, all under the guiding hand of Angela Missoni herself. The result will be a collection of stylish minimalist homes featuring spectacular Biscayne Bay and Miami views alongside a collection of resort-caliber amenities decked out in Missoni colors with items from the Missoni Home Collection.

OKO Group’s Vladislav Doronin and Angela Missoni of the Missoni fashion house were both featured in Ocean Drive’s Art Basel Miami edition. The pair behind the forthcoming collection of luxury Edgewater condos cut striking looks as they wined and dined prospective residents at a private brunch at the Missoni Baia sales gallery during the festival, combining tasty food with spectacular views that hint at the panoramic vistas that will be visible from the private waterfront condos. Pops of colors and patterns on display at the brunch previewed Missoni Baia’s aesthetic, which will combine minimalism with carefully placed Missoni elements to create the experience of living inside the mind of Missoni on the shores of Biscayne Bay.
