Blog: Where to Catch a Game (in Luxury) in Miami

Posted 10.20.2019

If you consider yourself a fair-weather sports fan, then Miami’s climate probably suits you well. Moving into your new bayfront condo at Missoni Baia places you near some of the world’s best athletes and sports franchises. The Magic City is home to four major sports teams—and if you can’t name a single one, don’t worry; we’re about to introduce them. Not only are the stadiums a short drive from Missoni Baia, but they also offer luxurious extras for the sports fan who likes to enjoy the game in comfort. Pom-poms at the ready as we tell you where to catch the hottest sporting events near Missoni Baia.

The Heat

Before heading to the American Airlines Arena, make sure you’ve got a reservation at nearby Toro Toro; here, South and Central American dishes get a unique twist. Think wild mushroom coca flatbread with goat’s cheese, or chipotle miso Chilean sea bass. Cocktails like the Machu Picchu (a blend of pisco, lime, and jalapeno) are sure to drown your sorrows if the Heat doesn’t perform well that night. But, although this is the post-Dwyane Wade era, this team shows no sign of flagging; raise a glass to more Heat successes like their 2016 division title.

The Marlins
Just as no one would want to be on the end of an actual marlin, so the Miami Marlins’ competitors fear this city’s finest baseball team. Make the short drive from your Miami luxury residence to brand-new Marlins Park and revel in watching a team that has twice won the World Series in just twenty years of existence. While cheering on the likes of feared slugger (and probable superhuman) Giancarlo Stanton in the Miami sunshine, you may want to treat yourself to more than the average hotdog and beer. Check into the Ricoh Diamond Club for plush cushioned seating and high-end dining. The first row is situated 47 feet from home plate. Home run.

The Dolphins

If football is more your speed, the Miami Dolphins have you covered. Book yourself a single game suite, and you’ll get a preferred parking pass and food and drink credit. Or, why not go one better and score premium seating at 72 Club (food and drink included)? Check. Complimentary in-seat service? Check. 11 inches of extra legroom? Check! If someone else is driving, order yourself a Blue Dolphin cocktail, made with Malibu spiced rum and Blue Curacao liqueur (that packs a punch akin to the Miami Dolphins’ offense). The upcoming season is promising, as head coach Adam Gase’s squad seem to have what it takes to repeat a trip to the playoffs, like they did in 2016.

The Hurricanes

The Hard Rock Stadium is but a 20-minute drive from the East Edgewater condos at Missoni Baia. That puts you well within reach of the Miami Dolphins, and it’s also home to the D1 powerhouse Miami Hurricanes. Starting in September, they’ll face stiff competition from the likes of Toledo, Georgia Tech, and Notre Dame. May we suggest a stiff pregame drink at The Bend Liquor Lounge, a neat wood-paneled speakeasy, where they’ll happily shake you a classic cocktail? After one of those, it’s game on.

The Austrian football stadium with a forest on the pitch – in pictures

Enzo Enea, the landscape architect recently engaged to create a pair of outdoor spaces for OKO Group, collaborated with artist Klaus Littmann on FOR FOREST – The Unending Attraction of Nature, a massive artwork in Austria, where the pair turned a soccer stadium into a commentary on the loss of forests around the world. A photo gallery from The Guardian shows the stand of trees planted atop the soccer pitch with seats rising all around, creating a striking image at once unsettling and bucolic. Enea is best known for his landscape architecture, and his designs will be part of Missoni Baia’s resort-caliber spread of outdoor fitness and relaxation amenities when this collection of Edgewater condos is complete.

The neighborhood’s tallest towers — and a park and baywalk — are planned for Edgewater

The Miami Herald reports that the Edgewater neighborhood is going vertical, with a suite of new towers from a range of developers planned to go up on the shores of Biscayne Bay. First among these residential towers will be Missoni Baia, which is slated for completion at the end of next year. This collection of Edgewater condos from OKO Group and the renowned Italian design house Missoni will feature resort-caliber amenities and spacious homes with ample private outdoor space to enjoy the bay breezes and panoramic views. Missoni Baia’s interiors are being handled by designer Paris Forino, who took inspiration from the iconic brand’s aesthetic to create a living embodiment of the Missoni style.

Developers are following the trend set by OKO Group and Missoni by planning more residential towers in Miami’s hip Edgewater neighborhood. The Missoni Baia, the groundbreaking tower slated for completion late next year, will house 249 luxury Miami bayfront condos that feature panoramic views of Biscayne Bay and Downtown Miami. The Missoni family consulted on designs for the tower’s interiors and amenity spaces, bringing the Italian fashion house’s iconic stripes and palette to life around the property, including items from the Missoni Home Collection festooning the public areas. The building’s amenities will also include one of the city’s largest private spas and an elevated tennis court.

Miami’s Most Spectacular Coastal Properties

Missoni Baia stood out in Immo Magazine’s roundup of Miami’s most spectacular coastal properties. When complete, the striking tower from developer OKO Group and Italian design house Missoni will stand 57 stories tall and feature 249 luxury Edgewater condos with private terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows through which residents will enjoy Biscayne Bay and Downtown Miami views. The tower was designed by Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture of Asymptote Architecture, who integrated the Missoni aesthetic into the tower—for example, by using horizontal bars of color as accents in the building’s resort-caliber amenities, including a large private spa and multiple pools.

When approached by developer OKO Group to collaborate on a collection of Edgewater condos in Miami, Angela Missoni of the Missoni fashion group was excited to bring the brand’s aesthetic to people’s homes. The result, the Missoni Baia, which is currently rising on the shores of Biscayne Bay, will stand 649 feet tall and contain 246 luxury residences when complete. Architect Hani Rashid blended the Missoni aesthetic with elements inspired by minimalist sculptors to create a building that will “celebrate purity, musicality, and eloquence” both indoors and out. Spacious homes feature deep private terraces with bayside and city views, while residential amenities include a resort-caliber private spa, a pool deck dotted with items from the Missoni Home Collection, and multiple pools throughout the property.

Argentinian Soccer Star purchases condo in Edgewater neighborhood

Posted 07.29.2019

Argentinian soccer star Carlos “Tucu” Joaquín Correa has secured one of the Edgewater condos at the forthcoming Missoni Baia as his second home, becoming the second high-profile footballer to put one of these luxury residences into contract. Correa and Colombian soccer star Miguel Borja chose Missoni Baia because of the building’s convenient location to Downtown Miami hot spots, as well as the Biscayne Bay tower’s beautiful views and resort-caliber amenities. Designed by Asymptote Architecture, with interiors by Paris Forino and consulting by Missoni family members, Missoni Baia will stand as a living embodiment of the Italian fashion house’s signature style, complete with pastel stripes on the bottom of the pool and furniture from the Missoni Home Collection in the public areas.
