Real Estate Webinar Recap: The Art Of Living With Missoni Baia

Posted 11.30.2020

The creative team behind Missoni Baia joined Haute Residence for a webinar discussing the design philosophy behind this 57-story collection of Edgewater, Miami, condos. Angela Missoni, Creative Director and President of Missoni, found inspiration in the panoramic views afforded by the tower’s waterfront location and prioritized clean outdoor space where residents can enjoy Miami’s comfortable climate. Architect Hani Rashid and interior designer Paris Forino took Ms. Missoni’s vision and ran with it, creating deep-set balconies in every home that can serve as “a whole living room” for residents to “open up and enjoy the outdoors and that wonderful expansive view.” Around the building’s base, landscape architect Enzo Enea created a garden that turns the tower into a jewel box set within a lush landscape.

Thanksgiving Preparations at Missoni Baia

Posted 11.25.2020

There’s still time to prepare for a wonderful Thanksgiving. On the doorstep of the Edgewater condos at Missoni Baia, you’ll find cake shops, stores selling bling tableware, and—if you’re in the mood to be pampered—restaurants providing Thanksgiving dinner deliveries or pickup options.

Be Thankful for Your Living Room and Dining Room

A Thanksgiving dinner is the perfect inspiration to freshen up your tableware collection. Make your meal sparkle with Blair flatware gold cutlery and celestial dinnerware from West Elm. Call in at Mrs. Mandolin to pick up a stylish set of Peugeot salt and pepper mills, plus a yellow-ware pitcher—ideal for serving your guests apple cider. Meanwhile, at Design Within Reach, they have Raawii Strøm vases for sale; fill one with a festive spray of red, orange, and golden flowers from Zoom Bloomz—just a seven-minute stroll from the condos. Finish off those festive feels with a fitting aroma. Candle Land Miami invites you to craft your own candles: think warming scents like apple spice, sandalwood, or even snickerdoodle. Any of these, wafting through your condo, will get the Thanksgiving vibes going.

Pick Up a Thanksgiving Cake… and a Bottle of Bubbly

Looking for a Thanksgiving cake to steal the show? Save yourself hours of baking by heading to Sweet Couture by Daly. They’re experts in bespoke cakes—crafting anything out of sponge and icing—from electric guitars to Parisian cityscapes. (What’s more, the cakes taste as good as they look.) Why not commission a Thanksgiving-themed cake to wow your guests? Otherwise, order from Sweet Couture’s mouthwatering list of dessert options, including lemon chiffon and decadent dark chocolate ganache. As an accompaniment to your sweet treats, pick up a couple of bottles of Bollinger from Vintage Liquor & Wine Bar II in Midtown.

Let the Pros Cook for You

If you’re planning a Thanksgiving so laid-back that it may not even take place on a Thursday, Malibu Farm Miami Beach will provide a full Traditional Thanksgiving Turkey or Holiday Ham meal for pickup from now until November 29th (with three days advance order).

Meanwhile, the deadline to order a South Beach Wine and Food Festival Thanksgiving Table To-Go feast is Sunday, November 22nd. You can choose a delicious meal to eat in your Edgewater home, knowing that you are also helping support the hard-hit local hospitality community. Dolce Italian will give you until 5 pm on Monday, November 23rd, to order their individual and family Thanksgiving dinner for takeout or delivery. Choose now, be thankful and careful, and enjoy the day!

Missoni’s Reading List

Posted 11.05.2020

Spending a lot of time at home this year? You’re not alone. Make the most of it by getting lost in a great book, whether it’s a recent best-seller or that novel you’ve been meaning to start. Residents of the Edgewater condos at Missoni Baia can take their reading poolside to soak up the glorious Miami sunshine, or simply curl up in their living room with Biscayne Bay as the backdrop. If you want some recommendations for your next great read, here are some of our favorites.

Tara Westover’s gripping memoir, “Educated,” has been gracing best-seller lists for quite a while, not to mention the reading lists of Barack Obama and Bill Gates — and for good reason. A National Book Critics Circle Award winner, “Educated” follows Westover from her isolated upbringing in rural Idaho to the upper echelons of academia at Cambridge and Harvard Universities. As she grapples with her abusive family and her father, who denies her access to formal education and health care, Westover maps the future she envisions for herself and comes to accept the distance it creates from the Buck’s Peak mountain of her childhood.

Another of our favorites is Jeannette Walls’ 2005 memoir, “The Glass Castle” — a longtime New York Times best-seller and the subject of a 2017 feature film. In the book, Walls masterfully traces her dysfunctional and peripatetic childhood in Nevada, Arizona, and West Virginia. Walls’ childhood is pierced by turbulent interactions with relatives, episodes of sexual abuse, and the dominating presence of her father, Rex, who pursues his quixotic dream of building a glass castle at the expense of his family’s basic needs. Despite the tragedies woven throughout her childhood and early adulthood, Walls’ memoir isn’t overly sentimental, but, instead, is filled with vignettes of subtle joy and a sense of adventure.

Georgia Hunter’s debut novel, “We Were the Lucky Ones,” fictionalizes the stories of various members of her family during the Holocaust — and offers a redemptive message of the Kurc family’s superhuman will to survive. The tale revolves around three generations of the family, and begins with the shadow of impending disaster creeping over this middle-class Jewish family’s day-to-day life in Radom, Poland. Hunter skillfully weaves well-researched historical details of the horrors that faced her family into the heart-pounding plotting of a Hollywood thriller. The result is an utterly engrossing read, with unbelievable feats of will made believable by Hunter’s fidelity to history.

Each of these books will likely linger in your thoughts well after you turn the final page. But you can keep the discussion going by coming together with friends and neighbors at Missoni Baia, or by engaging virtually with bibliophiles from around the world. Virtual book clubs have become a welcome trend in 2020, which has made finding new title recommendations, tackling a daunting epic like Leo Tolstoy’s “War and Peace,” or simply connecting with other avid readers all the more convenient. The popular Quarantine Book Club hosts meetings via Zoom, while other clubs have tackled single texts like Albert Camus’ “The Plague.” Literary Hub offers virtual programming of its usual roster of events, from readings to Q&A sessions with authors. You can find an extensive list of clubs here for added inspiration.

Whichever absorbing tale you decide to pick up next, we recommend you settle in with your book in the comfort of home. First Glass Installed At Missoni Baia As 649-Foot Tower Passes Halfway Mark

Posted 11.05.2020

As Missoni Baia soared past the halfway point, crews installed the first panes of what will be a glass curtain wall on two of the tower’s sides. Construction is moving along quickly, with workers pouring one floor per week, and the tower is expected to reach its ultimate height in March. Missoni Baia is being developed by OKO Group and designed by Asymptote Architecture and interior designer Paris Forino, all under the watchful eye of Angela and Rosita Missoni. When complete in late 2021, Missoni Baia will stand 649 feet tall and feature 249 luxury Edgewater condos, as well as a resort-style collection of wellness and recreational amenities, on the shore of Biscayne Bay.

Creating Sustainability Within Lush Outdoor Spaces

Posted 10.30.2020

Landscape architect Enzo Enea’s lush plantings will be the first thing that residents and guests encounter when they arrive at the 57-story Missoni Baia tower. “We wanted to have a lot of vegetation at the base of the building,” Enea told the Wall Street Journal. “We feel it creates a sense of arrival.” These Edgewater condos are surrounded by amenities that are shaded by native trees, including five outdoor swimming pools alongside cabanas and a pool deck featuring plantings handpicked by Enea to complement the waters of nearby Biscayne Bay and the iconic Missoni color palette. More than just aesthetic items, the plantings help lower the temperature around the tower’s base and trap some of the cool breezes coming off Biscayne Bay, creating an oasis of cool away from Miami’s heat.

Missoni Baia Continues to Rise as Una Residences Breaks Ground

Posted 10.23.2020

As Architect Magazine, New Atlas, and Construction Review Online have recently noted, construction is in process at Una Residences, the second Miami residential project from renowned developer OKO Group. Meanwhile, construction on Missoni Baia, the other OKO initiative that’s going vertical along Miami’s waterfront, is now more than half complete, and the developer expects to deliver the first of its 249 Edgewater condos in 2022. Missoni Baia is being designed by Asymptote Architecture and designer Paris Forino with oversight by the Missoni family, and the result will be a Missoni runway show brought to life. Residents of these luxury waterfront condos will enjoy chic, minimalist interiors and access to a suite of resort-style amenities, including a colorful pool deck, multiple pools, and one of the city’s largest private spas.

Edgewater: Then and Now

Posted 10.21.2020

As construction at Missoni Baia in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood reaches the halfway point, let’s take a moment to reflect on Edgewater’s storied past, booming present, and enticing future. The neighborhood has existed along the shore of Biscayne Bay for nearly as long as the city of Miami itself, but it came into its own with the construction of Biscayne Boulevard in the 1920s. This four-lane road produced a central shopping district around which the postwar boom in high-rise luxury towers was centered, creating an affluent area with a number of striking architectural landmarks, including the Omni International Mall, which introduced the area to high-end designers like Hermès and Givenchy, a trend that would be taken to the next level with the development of Missoni Baia decades later.

Missoni Baia and its class of new developments are continuing this architecturally significant tradition without sacrificing the laid-back and comfortable Miami attitude. This collection of Edgewater condos is being designed by Asymptote Architecture with guidance from the Missoni family, bringing the Italian fashion house’s signature style to life on a grand scale, complete with the waterfront views and warm breezes that make Miami famous. Private balconies and a sweeping pool deck encourage residents to make the most of the pleasant climate, while proximity to world-class shopping and restaurants anchors Missoni Baia in the heart of Edgewater.

As viewers can see in this video, Missoni Baia will be joined in Edgewater by a host of new developments, including a high-end organic grocer, a new private K-12 school, and a proposed Brightline train station that will connect the neighborhood with the rest of the city via rail. Edgewater has been on the rise for more than a hundred years, and Missoni Baia is putting the right foot forward for the next hundred years of architecture and style along the sandy beaches and warm waters of Biscayne Bay.

Slated for completion next year, these 249 residences from the iconic Italian fashion house will bring luxury, including a suite of resort-style amenities, to the Miami waterfront. “This milestone is a testament to the team’s diligence and hard work despite the challenges presented by the current environment,” said Jonathan Goldstein, CEO of developer Cain International. Vladislav Doronin, CEO of development partner OKO Group, also praised the construction and design work, saying that “building Missoni Baia to its midpoint milestone is a remarkable moment for our team as we bring this elegantly designed, landmark project to life.”

Missoni Baia Reaches Midpoint Milestone

Posted 10.12.2020

Missoni Baia made the news last week when it reached the midpoint of construction, marking the first major milestone since the project broke ground. Industry outlets, including Global Construction and Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), report that construction at these Edgewater condos on Miami’s Biscayne Bay is moving along at a steady pace and that the tower will rise at a rate of one floor per week until the expected topping-out date in March of next year. Missoni Baia is now also listed at The Skyscraper Center, CTBUH’s premier architectural database, which is home to information about the world’s leading tall buildings.

A Luxurious Afternoon in the Miami Design District

Posted 09.23.2020

There’s more to Miami than pristine beaches and azure water; there’s a booming cultural and culinary scene that’s the ideal alfresco indulgence, whether you want to gallery hop or shop the day away in the city’s near-perfect weather. Residents of the Miami Edgewater condos at Missoni Baia are just a five-minute drive from the city’s center of glamor and fun—the Design District.

A trip to the Design District is no ordinary shopping stroll. It’s an event because the best-of-the-best restaurants, fashion brands, and galleries call this upscale enclave home. Think of it as Fifth Avenue meets Rodeo Drive in the Florida sunshine. Whether you have a taste for cutting-edge art, high fashion, or haute cuisine, you’re in luck with a trip to the Design District.

It seems that only in Miami would a contemporary art gallery based in a small town in Uruguay find its perfect niche in the US. And that’s just what the Piero Atchugarry Gallery has done. It instantly became a home for modern international artists—particularly sculptors—when it opened in 2014 in Garzón, Uruguay. In 2018, they grew internationally and initiated the ever-popular Miami outpost. Here, the gallery and its curators use what they call an “instructional approach” to shepherd and cultivate artists through residencies in their massive space in the Design District location. Take a look at the open-air, seemingly graph-paper-inspired geometric mural by Brazilian artist Lydia Okumura.

For a decidedly modern form of art—automotive design—take a walk through Prestige Imports Performing Art Pop-Up to see what high-design on four wheels looks like as you review the ultimate in automobiles.

If you prefer haute couture over fast cars, you have plenty of boutiques to choose from.

Those with a sartorial leaning will find world-class brands like Dior and Hermès alongside smaller, but no less fashionable, boutiques. Here, you can get everything from a once-in-a-lifetime outfit to an everyday fragrance. For the fashion-inclined kid and teenager, C’est Chou by Sienna is the spot. The shop wants girls and young women to take fashion into their own hands and be able to choose from a comprehensive selection of designers from around the world.

Young or old, everyone in Florida knows that one of the only accessories that matters are your sunglasses. For over a decade, I on the District has been providing frames to the who’s who of Miami. Stop in to see the curated selection and try a pair for yourself.

End your trip to the Design District with an essential cooldown with some artisanal natural ice cream or popsicles from Ladyfingrs pushcart. You can even get a whole box of pops to take back to your Miami Bayfront condos at Missoni Baia.

Self-Care and Relaxation at Missoni Baia

Posted 09.17.2020

It’s always important to work some self-care time into your busy schedule. You can transform your Missoni Baia condo into a sanctuary of well-being. Enhance your mindfulness through innovative apps; master new recipes with guidance from an expert; and create an impromptu yoga studio — all within the comfort of your East Edgewater residence.

Enhance Your Mindfulness

A “healthier, happier, more well-rested life” is promised by mindfulness app Headspace. Start your day by listening to “The Wake Up,” a Headspace feature that offers inspiring stories and mini-meditations. Your condo bedroom — with its soft Paris Forino interiors inspired by the Miami waterfront — sets the perfect tranquil scene to prepare for the day ahead. If you’re working from home, take short breaks and listen to Headspace’s collections of soundscapes and soothing music. Meanwhile, the app Talkspace offers thousands of online therapists who can talk you through whatever is on your mind. Get comfortable on your sofa, with a backdrop of Biscayne Bay, and treat yourself to some “you” time.

Perform Yoga Al Fresco

Complement your healthy mind with a healthy body. At Missoni Baia, you can switch out the usual yoga studio for your private terrace that overlooks the bayfront. What better way to ease into the day than performing the naukasana (boat pose) with the sea breeze in your hair. The Gaia yoga app offers unlimited classes, so you can hop from vinyasa to yin to power. And if you miss your morning session, there’s even bedtime yoga.

Craft Seasonal Cuisine

It would be a crime not to make full use of the kitchen in your Edgewater Miami condo — with its Blue de Savoie marble counters and dark, mirrored backsplashes — but perhaps you need a little inspiration first. The Masterclass course by Alice Waters is a joyous celebration of farm-to-table cooking that emphasizes the use of seasonal produce. In 17 online classes, Waters teaches her philosophy on food, shows how to keep a well-stocked pantry, and helps you to master everything from the perfect galette to impeccable ravioli. Order your wholesome ingredients from the Urban Oasis Project, and create cuisine that’s nourishing for body and soul.

Bring the Spa to You

Sometimes the best way to relax involves sitting back and letting someone else do the work. If visiting a spa is off the table at the moment, bring the spa to your home. Zeel makes it easy to book in-home massages: Simply order on the app, and a massage therapist will arrive at your condo — sometimes in as little as an hour.
